Sucre Bolivia

Sucre, one of the capital cities of Bolivia, lies in the region between the Altiplano and the lowlands. The city enjoys a wonderful weather year round. The city is known for its beautiful white downtown houses. Plaza 25 de Mayo is the heart of Sucre, surrounded by the Cathedral, the office of the regional government, the Alcaldía, the historic Casa de la Libertad, as well as a swag of restaurants and bars. The traditional Spanish architecture downtown can still be enjoyed to this date. Beautiful colonial architecture abounds with many original buildings still intact. All buildings within the central core of the city are either whitewashed or painted white, which awarded Sucre the nickname of White City. Sucre’s Old Town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, is full of elegant churches, mansions and museums. The most important attractions are the Museo Charcas, housed in the former Inquisition Office, the Cathedral, the University, the Oratorio San Felipe de Neri and the Franciscan monastery of La Recoleta.Sucre is a really beautiful town with a great cathedral and a vast array of stunning colonial buildings. Sucre is definitely worth a stop on your trip through Bolivia.
